Below is a picture of a wood shake turret and a slate roof. There should be flashing between the turret and the slate roof to prevent water from getting between them and causing damage.

All the debris and any old failing metal are removed from the edge of the turret.

The slate is then removed near the turret to expose any other failing metal and that metal is removed. Copper flashing is cut to the size needed to cover the gap.

Base sheeting is installed and new copper flashing. The slate is re-installed, if it is usable. If not matching slate is installed. The job is now complete.
